First 3-days "Marathon Back-to-back" Agility trials in Malaysia- October 25,26
& 27 2008
Last weekend was the 1st 3-days back-to-back agility trials in
Malaysia. The three trials A18/2008, A19/2008 and A20/2008 were
conducted on Saturday. Sunday and Monday. Monday was a public holiday (Deepavali).
As the venue was an outdoor field at Sekolah Rendah Sri Pinang, we could
only conduct the trials from 7am to 9.30am and from 4.30pm to 7pm on all
3 days. The weather was sunny and dry in spite of continuous heavy rains
for 4 days before the event. Some one asked which 'weather God we prayed
to'?
We had a successful outing and recorded many FIRSTS and
achievements-
1. The first two dogs to earn the GD (Gamblers Dog)
title- Groovy,M.A.CH,GD and Rightroyale's Kofi, M.A.CH,GD on 26th
October. Owners are Chen Fawn Loong and Sue Yeap respectively.
2. The first two dogs to get the first Clean Runs in the
Open class category- again Groovy. M.A.CH,GD and Rightroyale's Kofi,
M.A.CH, GD on 25th October.
3. The fastest Rottweiler in the country for Basic
Jumpers-19 seconds, a record which is unbeatable for a year now- BH Rott
Reggie. Owned and trained by BH Ooi.
4. The third dog to be awarded the Silver Medal is Quinssie, owned by Patricia Chen.
What is the
Silver medal- read here. There are a few dogs who needs 5 to 10
points to get the Silver award- it is not too late. Sign up for the
Agility trials on 6 and 7 December. Go for it! Points are cumulative and
can be carried over to the next year.
See who are
the potential dogs to get the Silver medal by December 2008.
5. Chico earned his first two Clean Runs in 2
trials in Basic Jumpers, after almost 1.5 years of training and
competing. Patience has rewarded his owner Ho Wai Ping.
6. Toy category's 1st Elementary Clean Run goes to
Chubby, owned by Chuah KK.
7. The first time all the Provisional Judges were fielded
as Judges, stewards and timers. They took their assignments in good
stride under the watchful eyes of the experienced judges Adreinne Lim
and Sue Yeap.
All the dogs did their best. Most faults were missing the
contacts for the A-Frame, dog walk and missing the weave poles. All dogs have their
days. Some days are good, some days NOT so good. The same goes with the
handlers! With more exposure to
such an environment, the dogs and handlers will gain experience with
time. In all the competitiveness of the trials, DON'T FORGET TO RELAX,
HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE GAME with your dog.
To all the Provisional Judges, Stewards and Timers, you
have done well and we are sure that you have gained much experience in
your assignments.
Special thanks to Pauline Lee the Show Manager who has
spent much time preparing the documentation, and bringing breakfast for
the morning trials, which includes home-made sandwiches !
The next big event is on 6 and 7 December-
